Vegan Burger Buns

These burger buns will change your mind about the ones that are sitting in grocery stores. These are easy, fuss free to make and they are versatile for all occasions.

For awhile now, I have been on a search for the perfect burger buns that is both vegan, healthy and wholesome. These burger buns are perfect in a way that you can use it for burger, dinner rolls or even serve it as a side for appetizers, or just snack on it?


These burger buns takes no time to put together and it takes only 15-20 minute to proof and 10-12 minute to cook! To me, this is the perfect burger bun/bread because I know I have no patience when it comes to waiting for bread to proof!

Vegan Burger Buns

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Servings: 8 buns


INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/4 warm water

  • 2 tbsp yeast

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 tbsp of flexseed with 3 tbsp of water

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

  • White sesame seed

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 425F

  2. Combine warm water, yeast and sugar and mix well. Wait for 5 minutes until foaming.

  3. Mix flexseed with water and mix well.

  4. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

  5. Stir in olive oil, yeast mixture and olive oil into dry ingredients.

  6. Mix and knead until dough comes together. It should be soft. If too wet, add 1 tbsp of flour at a time. If dough is too dry, add 1 tbsp at a time.

  7. Divide dough into 8 equal portions for burger buns, or 16 for dinner rolls.

  8. Shape into buns and let it rest on a sheet pan until double in size. About 15-20 minutes.

  9. Brush with olive oil and top with sesame seed. (optional)

  10. Place in oven and cook for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
