Crispy Cauliflower with Dipping Sauce

Addictive, crispy and savory all in one crunch.

Cauliflower is one of the most versatile ingredients for people who are vegan or vegetarian as that you can reshape them and make them into different dishes such as cauliflower crust pizza, cauliflower fried rice and in this case, crispy cauliflower with soy dipping/drizzle sauce!

The process for this dish is very simple, all you have to do is cook cauliflower(I used frozen), dip in batter( flour, plant based milk, oil, and baking powder) and pan fry in oil and dip or drizzle with sauce( made with soy sauce, water, sugar, ginger, garlic)

Crispy Cauliflower with Dipping Sauce

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes

Servings: 2-4 servings



  • 600g fresh or frozen cauliflower

  • Sesame seed (garnish)

  • Hot Sauce(optional)

  • Oil for pan frying



  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup water or plant based milk

  • 2 tsp oil

  • salt

  • 2 tsp baking soda



  1. Clean and cook cauliflower by blanching in hot boiling water for 3-5 minutes or fork tender(be careful to not overcook it!) and rinse with cold water, drain and set aside. If using frozen, cook based on instruction given on the bag.

  2. Make sauce by mixing all of the ingredients together and set aside.

  3. Make batter by combining the ingredients together and mix well. Rest for 5 minutes.

  4. Use a wok or large pan and coat it with cooking oil. Heat over medium low heat.

  5. Coat each cauliflower floret with the batter and drop into the pan and cook until the crust forms and golden brown. About 3-5 minutes.

  6. Turn the floret and cook for another 5 minutes.

  7. Take the cooked cauliflower out of pan and rest on paper towel to soak up additional oil.

  8. Repeat step 5-7 until there are no more cauliflower left.

  9. Garnish with sesame seed, drizzle or dip with sauce or hot sauce and enjoy while hot and crispy!
